I'm a former ELLEgirl and Seventeen editor who's gone freelance. I write regularly for Glamour, CosmoGirl!, Teen Vogue, Self, and other magazines.
Violet on the Runway, my first novel, came out from Penguin in September. It's about a small-town girl who gets scouted to walk in New York's Fashion Week, and has to deal with the pressures of the modeling world while trying to stay true to herself. The sequel, Violet by Design, came out in March. Book three, Violet in Private--still following the adventures of our not-so-confident model--hit stores in August!
The fashion world inspired me to create these stories as I peered into the crazy-beautiful scene as a magazine editor. But my character, Violet, starts out shy and meek and finds enough inner strength to create her own path.
So she goes from follower to individual... to leader. Like any true fashionista.
