Child model having a blast!!!!

I have been shooting children for about 2yrs now, I deal with portrait and child models. I get a joy out of my child models the most because they are so spunky and full of that positive attitude. They know how to work the camera and not afraid to act silly and crazy. When shooting those kids its like a fun day because I dont put any limits on what they can do in front of the camera, my sessions are usually filled with, serious, silly, and goofy expressions.
I had one parent tell me that her daughter likes to shoot with me because I let her do what she wants. That was totally cool because I know that the kids will always be comfortable around me and I never make any shoot seem like a "job".

My portrait kids can be a bit of a challenge because parents have coached them before the session, I try and inform parents who are getting portraits of their kids not to coach them and just let their natural personality come out. It usually takes about 30min for them to warm up and start feeling comfortable in front of the camera, I just talk to them and get them to forget the camera is even there. Many parents are usually shocked at how I get their kids to open up.
One think I learned about shooting kids is that you have to forget that your and adult and get on their level. Get educated on the latest things that kids are interested in, with me having two sons I relate really well with boys and know a lot about the lastest video games so thats a plus being that most boys hate taking pictures, with girls we talk about music, boys, etc.
I am so blessed to work with some wonderful kids and meet really great parents, I wouldnt give up childrens photography for anything.
