Teen modeling for a cause

Hi my name is Elisabeth and I am 16 years old.
When I was a pre-teen my looks started to change and I did not look very attractive. But thanks to the information learned by an Image Consultant (my mom); I was able to transform myself.Because of the knowledge gained from my mom, my looks changed and my self-image soared.
This is my Story:
When I was very young, my mom who was a “seasoned” Image Consultant in Connecticut, had purchased a software about "Virtual Hairstyles" to help her clients find a perfect hairstyle for their face shape. She was having difficulty in using it so she jokingly asked me to help her. To her surprise I was a natural at it. From that moment on she made me a technician for the hairstyle portion of her image consultations. I was thrilled to have become a part of the world that had shaped me since my inception. I had heard image enhancement since I was in my mom’s womb and I had been held by her clients throughout my childhood years. Her clients would look so pretty when done and would leave feeling so good about themselves!! It was awesome to see all of that!
Anyway, let me go back to what I was sharing before.
At age 11, we moved to PA,and everything changed! My mom switched to Real Estate and I hit puberty. My childlike looks started to change and I started to look more (and more like a Frizzy Lizzy. This was the nickname I had inherited on my first year of middle school). My mom was too busy doing real estate and did not notice that her little girl was growing up. After two years of awkward difficult times; my mom helped me transform myself from a mediocre looking kid to a “hello Lisy” !!!!!
This transformation made me fall in love with what my mother used to do. I decided I would do the virtual consultations and would build a website just for it. My first website was very simple, but allowed me to get exposure and to embark in the fashion world.
That year I also participated at a “woman trade show”, right in my hometown. There, I met a lady who was the producer of a bridal show. She loved the idea of my virtual hairstyles website and offered us (my mom and I) the opportunity to be on the show, in order to help brides pick the best hair color and hairdo for their wedding, “without the risk of coloring or cutting”.
It felt so scary but also so good to be in a recording studio! Since then, my business expanded! I posted the site on MySpace and soon many teens from all over went to my site and posted comments and e-mailed me.
I found out that even though kids have different personalities and characteristics, we all share one common denominator: teen issues. We all share the same frustration, fears, anxieties, needs to feel connected, to be loved, and to be liked by our peers.
With this site, I like to accomplish two goals:
1. To offer a “CLEAN”, Fashionable, Content Filled Teen Center where Teens can Blog , and be able to feel connected. (.... It is hard to develop self-confidence, style and good values if we rely ONLY on the media. The media only gives information that "THEY" think teens want!!!)
2. I like to also, make a stand for human rights and social causes.
I believe that if all of us teens would stand up for whatever cause we feel strongly about; we could change and impact the world!!! To do that we have to be taught. ...and …sadly there are not many good teachers out there.
