What is it ?

It is a book usually 9"-12" in size.

The book consists of the model's work, test shoot with photographers , tear sheets from catalogs or magazines.

Test shoot photo's are the best photographs of the shoots that the model has had with photographers.

Models will go over the shoot with their modeling agents and choose the best ones to put into thier books.

As the model gets paid work catalogs, magazines - she will replace some test photo's with the tear sheets.

Working models have several books, one to take on auditions, and one to keep at the agency so that the agency can send it out to clients who request to see it .

Model portfolio's are always updated, every time the model has a new test shoot or has new work to put in it .

The book should only consist of "A" photos.

One good headshot , several three quarter, one or two body shots .. depending on the model and if they do lingerie and swim bookings.

Models should always know the photographer's name who shot the photo's in their books, clients will sometimes ask.

You should also know who the makeup artist, stylist was on set when you did the shoot.

In the beginning stages, you should have several different photographers shoot your portfolio book. Do not simply shoot a "Portfolio" with one single photographer; your book will eventually come together after shooting with a variety of photographers which will give your images different looks and attitudes. Generally, each photographer will "see" something different in you and will capture a new side to you that the others haven't.

Models should be comfortable and happy with the photo's that are in their book and also the order and placement of the photographs.. if the model is happy about the photo's the clients will pick up on that .
