Fashion Portrait Photographer Lenka Interview

Fashion Portrait Photographer Lenk

Good day Lenka, Thanks so much for visiting with us and sharing your beautiful photography.

What is your photography style and share with us what you feel is important for the relationship between Model and Photographer?

I don't consider myself being a fashion photographer, but rather a portrait photographer. Photography is my passion... I just love capturing the essence of the person being photographed and its beauty, whoever it is... everybody is beautiful and unique in its own way and I love bringing that out in the photograph.

I started few years ago when i was running a modelling division in a talent agency back in Europe and two of our models needed tests before they went to an agency Japan. Since this was a family business and we were spending a lot of money for these tests, one day I decided to try and take some photographs and strangely enough people in the agency in Japan loved them and they've asked me to shoot portfolio for both of our models.

It's kind of hard for me to say what I look for in a model...shooting models and fashion is different from shooting portraits. So for portraits i just need my object , whether it's, model, actor or just somebody who'd like to have its pictures taken, to be relaxed and being herself/himself.

With models its bit different, so in my opinion good models needs to have some acting abilities in order to be able to get in the role. I've worked with models before who had only one expression and then whatever they were wearing and whatever the picture was, they had the same old expression.

I have spent last six months in Europe working for a women magazine, shooting editorials and covers to interviews with features actresses, politicians and sportswomen, I have also updated my website recently, had a meeting about possible cooperation with a fashion line, and in the meantime I'm shooting portraits and portfolio shots for models and actors.

Additional Advice From Lenka for Models and Actors:

"Working as a casting director in Europe for last ten years and meeting many actors made me fully realize how important good headshot is. Obviously,a good headshot isn't everything, but for a casting director, it is the very first interaction with an actor. You may be the most talented actor in the world, but if your headshot doesn´t work and you don't get noticed, you simply may not get the chance to prove it. Fortunately enough, many actors have realized, that the investment in good headshots is essential and money they invest in their photos, will most likely return with the first job they get."
