Drake & Debbie Gaetano

Debbie and I met Bob around 1979 and were introduced to him by Marie DeFrancisco, a hairdresser from Auburn who was a friend of Bob. We were looking at that time for a great photographer to shoot our hair models for us to be published in the world,s best hair magazines. And did Bob come threw for us.At that time we were both new as how to go about pulling this off. From the very beginning we realized we had found a genius who was just the person we were looking for. It took us a little while to get to know how to work together, all of us being artists in our own right. Bob could overwhelm us with his ideas and passion and we created some of the best pictures of hairstyles in the world at that time. We just found this site doing a google search to show a new photographer just starting out Bob's work. She wanted to meet him,we were so shocked to see he passed. What a shock. I would so much love to post some pictures we took (their were many) but they were lost when Debbie and I moved. Would any one you know have access to his negatives? Back in those days we shot film, I would always go into the dark room with Bob to develop the contact sheets. He was a master, he loved shooting our hair work and after a time actually developed an eye for what we were looking for. He will be missed very much. Drake Gaetano

I knew Bob from portfolio work
by: Karen (Auburn)

I knew Bob through the free-lance model's portfolio work he did for me. He was passionate about his work. His creativity was above and beyond many in his field of work. The portfolio shots he did for me were outstanding. (I, too, worked with one of his friends - a hairdresser from Auburn, NY...can't remember her name...) I was truly shocked and saddened to learn of his passing - he was so young with so much more work to contribute to the art/business of fashion.

Debbie - I think you did my hair a LONG time ago
by: Mindy (Auburn Girl)

If you are the right lady, you lived between Auburn and Syracuse and Bob brought me to you (I was young). I have pics of that hairdo (not Bob's unfortunately), but a gentleman at Miss Empire State asked to do a shoot with me and gave me several shots (they're cute).

Anyway, Bob was a doll to me and I wanted to thank you as well.

I knew him around the same time..
by: Mindy

Was a young woman aspiring to be a model, but I fought weight issues (especially in those days). Bob did a couple of photo shoots of me, one that I have two full sized b&w's, the other I have a sheet of sensational proofs (with one photo going to an ex-boyfriend, who wouldn't give it back). Anyway, I always hoped I would get him to shoot some photos of me as an older woman, but I guess that hope is gone. He was a wonderful friend.

thank You Mindy! we would love to see your photos.
